Academy alumni signs for professional club in Uruguay

Former Academy student Ricardo Rizzo has signed a professional contract with Uruguayan side Club Atletico Cerro.

The talented goalkeeper and was an integral part of FCV Stamford’s success last season in which they reached the semi-finals of the National League U19 Alliance.

Academy Head Coach, Grant Brown, believes that Rizzo gave himself the best chance of success in the professional game by the hard work he put in whilst at the Academy.

“We all congratulate Riccy on signing for Club Atletico Cerro and look forward to seeing his career develop. Riccy worked extremely hard, both on and off the training ground when he was with us and working closely with Ash Foulger, the GK Coach and the other goalkeepers improved him greatly.

“He was a pleasure to work with and we are all delighted for him.”

His new club compete in the Uruguayan Primera División and in 2010 reached the second round of the Copa Libertadores.

Everyone at the Academy is very happy to see Ricardo Rizzo doing so well and will be following his progress as he looks to establish himself with his new club.
