Former student Ramon Egloff plays against Champions League side BSC Young Boys

We caught up with Ramon to ask him about his time at FCV, his plans for the future and of course that game against BSC Young Boys. Ramon plays for FC Littau in the 5th division of Swiss football.

FC Littau were drawn against BSC Young Boys in the Swiss Cup. The Swiss giants recently caused an upset of their own in the Champions League when they beat Manchester United 2-1 at home. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for FC Littau as BSC Young Boys came out the tie 4-1 winners. The goal scored by FC Littau was assisted by Ramon who deemed it a “highlight of my career.”

“To be honest it was like a dream come true. Every footballer dreams of experiencing a moment like this in their career. Obviously, the chance of winning the game was quite small but we played well. The speed of the players and how Young Boys played in general was remarkable. Even though there were lots of 1st team players involved in the game for Young Boys I was not nervous at all .”

Ramon also reflected on his time at FCV and how he believes FCV helped him in the early stages of his career. “It was a great experience for me to live and play soccer together with other lads who have the same goals as me. I felt like a professional footballer in that moment. I learned how to train properly, how to eat well and how to recover. It was a great time I’ll never forget.”

“FCV helped me to understand how my body works. FCV showed me that you have to put everything into it to be successful. It helped me to develop my skills during the intense training sessions to become a better football player.”

“My plan for the future is to keep playing football as long as my body allows me to. I will work hard to hopefully experience another moment like this.”
