FCV Players Showcase their talents in Europe

The Capelli Sport Cup 2021 saw two players from FCV Academy travel overseas to participate in the international tournament. The official kit supplier of FCV Academy held the tournament in Koge, Denmark. The tournament was open to clubs across Europe including Greece, Denmark, and Germany.

Francesco Chiappo and Iwo Karacayli were invited to play at the tournament in Denmark. Both Iwo and Francesco competed in the U19s competition as part of the Capelli Sport USA team.

Capelli USA won their two group games against Greek outfit Aiolikos FC and the home side HB Koge. This meant that Capelli and the FCV representatives would face MSV Duisburg in the final. The former Bundesliga side would go on to win the final 2-0.

Francesco started for team Capelli in the final and had this to say about his experience. “it was one of the best tournaments I have ever played in. It was an amazing experience with some great players in a country I’ve never been to. I’m very grateful to the coach and FCV for this opportunity.”

This summer has also seen Iwo Karacayli go on trial with Altinordu F.K. who play in the second division in Turkey. Iwo gave us an insight into what life is like at a club gunning for promotion “The football is very fast-paced, and every session is very high intensity. The whole environment at the club is very professional.”

The aim of FCV is to provide players with as many opportunities as possible both locally and overseas.
