FCV Football Academy Host Camp in Lagos

From April 1st to April 5th, 2024, FCV Football Academy embarked on an exciting trip to Lagos, Nigeria, to run a football camp in partnership with Dynaspro. Three of our talented coaches made the journey to Lagos to offer coaching sessions and create pathways for promising Nigerian football players.

During the week-long camp, our coaches led intensive tactical training sessions and organised competitive matches for the 100 players who participated. The sessions were designed to enhance the technical skills, strategic understanding, and overall fitness of the young athletes. Additionally, we had a specialised goalkeeper coach on hand to provide focused training and guidance for aspiring goalkeepers. This ensured comprehensive development across all positions, allowing each player to receive personalised attention and support.

National Football News

The impact of the camp reached far beyond the football field. We were featured on Nigerian national television, which allowed us to reach a wider audience and showcase our dedication to developing football talent globally. The media coverage helped to highlight the importance of our mission and the positive influence we aim to have on young athletes.

In one of our television interviews, our Head of Football, Grant Brown, expressed his admiration for the participants, saying, “I am impressed with the players because they showed sincere interest in what they are learning, which motivates us. We hope we can help them discover their potential and keep working hard even after the camp. At FCV Football Academy, we care about the complete development of the players and will continue to support Nigerian players in combining football with education.”

Former Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju, also joined us at the camp, adding an extra layer of inspiration and motivation for the young players. Adepoju shared his experiences from his successful career, providing valuable insights and advice on what it takes to succeed in football. His presence was a unique opportunity for the aspiring footballers to learn from a respected figure in Nigerian football and gain perspective on the journey to success in the sport.

Beyond the training and matches, the camp fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among the participants. The young footballers had the chance to bond with each other, share their experiences, and build lasting friendships. This sense of unity and teamwork is a crucial aspect of football, and it was heartening to see it develop throughout the camp.

The FCV Football Academy camp in Lagos was a huge success, leaving a positive and lasting impact on both the participants and the community. We are excited to continue supporting Nigerian students and footballers, helping them pursue their dreams in both football and education. We take pride in being one of the best football academies in Europe for young aspiring footballers, and we are committed to expanding our reach and influence to nurture talent worldwide.

Nigerian Footballers celebrating

Looking ahead, we plan to organise more camps and programs in Nigeria and other countries, aiming to provide even more young footballers with the training, guidance, and opportunities they need to succeed. We believe in the power of football to transform lives, and we are dedicated to making a difference, one player at a time.

From Nigeria to England: FCV Football Academy Pathways

Our camp’s success has opened doors for talented Nigerian football players, giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills in England, the home of the Premier League. We are proud to announce that seven players from our camp will make their way to England to join FCV Academy on various courses. These young footballers will join over twenty Nigerian players who have been part of the academy throughout this season with many more in past seasons.

We are committed to providing these young footballers with the support and exposure they need to achieve their dreams. One shining example of this is our player, Mayowa, who recently had a football trial at English Championship side Birmingham City. His hard work, dedication, and the training he received at FCV has prepared him the best possible way to compete at a high level.
