FCV Academy student receives national team call up

FCV Academy player, Malachi Trott has been called up by the Bermuda Football Association to represent his country at a tournament in Puerto Rico. The tournament will act as a final decider of who will be selected for the 2020 Concacaf U-20 Championships.

Malachi has already left for the tournament which officially begins on the 19th of February. The box-to-box midfielder will be looking to make a good impression and secure a place in a national side going forward.

FCV Academy Head Coach Grant Brown is delighted for the player, who has shown vast improvement since arriving at the academy.

“Malachi is a good young player with great potential. He gets around the pitch well and is very capable on the ball.”

“He works hard and I’m sure he will continue to develop, and he’ll hopefully get picked for the Bermuda national side again later in the year and get the opportunity to demonstrate his ability on an international stage”.

The talented young player is not only developing his football at FCV Academy but also studying as well. Malachi’s mother, Germaine Trott, is delighted that he has been able to improve his football at the academy whilst also furthering his education.

“Malachi has been playing football since he was five years old and had lots of success in Bermuda when he was younger, picking up awards. It’s important for him to be able to give back to the national side, as they have put a lot of time into helping him with his football.

“His education is also important in addition to his football and that was one of the selling points for me for Malachi to attend FCV Academy. The support they offer to the players with their studies is very important.”

FCV Academy focuses on pathways for their players once they have completed their time with us, for Malachi and his family there is only one focus going forward.

“The dream would be for Malachi to be signed by a professional club, he’s had experiences before of being scouted, but getting a professional contract is the goal.”
