Daghero signs for pro club in Poland

FCV caught up with former Australian student Darian Daghero who left FCV in December 2020 to sign for a pro club in Poland.

What was your experience like at FCV?

The experience I had at FCV was excellent and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to study and play football overseas. I met so many new people and made great memories throughout my 2 years at FCV.

Who have you signed for and what is the level like?

I recently signed with the first team of Polish IV Liga side, Bochenski KS. Our league has been set back until later this month due to Covid-19. We have been training and playing a few friendlies which have been going well. Being surrounded by professional players has helped me improve my game and take another step forward into playing at a higher level.

How did FCV help to prepare you for your time in Poland?

FCV has helped me incredibly as the coaches have constantly given me feedback on how to improve my game. Also, training 4 days a week and playing games midweek and on Saturdays has helped me as it has allowed me to constantly be playing football and constantly improving technically and physically.

What has it been like living in Poland?

Living in Poland has been a new and exciting experience, although the language barrier can be hard at times. I am looking to start Polish language lessons in the near future to help me speak to and understand my teammates and coaching staff.

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to follow your path into professional football?

If I could give any advice to someone trying to make it as a professional football player is to work as hard as you can and never give up no matter how many times people say no, one day that no might change to a yes.

What are your hopes for the future?

I am hoping to continue to further my game as a football player and continue to improve and hopefully aspire to move up through the ranks here in Europe.
