FCV students can study BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development over two or three years when you enrol onto our Football with Education course.

This vocational course explores different areas of employment in the sports sector and its units cover subjects such as coaching, psychology, anatomy and physiology, making it perfect for those aspiring for a career in football. Students are required to undertake 15 hours of study per week, which takes place alongside full time football training.

Upon successful completion of the BTEC Diploma qualification, you will have the equivalent of three A Levels, providing opportunities for progression into employment or onto a University Degree course or another vocational qualification at FCV or elsewhere.

  • Unit A: Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry
    • Learners will develop an understanding of careers in the sport and active leisure industry. They will
      gain the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for employment in the industry.
  • Unit B: Health, Wellbeing and Sport
    • Learners will explore the importance of physical activity and wellbeing for different types of
      participants and suggest ways to improve their physical and mental health status.
  • Unit C1: Developing Coaching Skills
    • Learners will develop their coaching knowledge and skills to help improve others’ performance
      skills, techniques and tactics across a range of sports.
  • Unit D1: Applied Coaching Skills
    • Learners will develop a coaching programme to improve performance at all levels and for
      multi-sports.
  • Unit E: Research Project in Sport
    • Learners propose and undertake research within a sport context.
  • Unit 1: Sport Development
    • Learners will explore the principles of sport development, the key agencies involved and provide
      practical examples of current practice.
  • Unit 2: Self-Employment in Sport and Physical Activity
    • Learners will develop knowledge and understanding of self-employment and apply this to develop a
      self-employment strategy within the context of the sport industry.

 

There are no formal examinations on the Level 3 BTEC. Assessments will include assignments, presentations, practical assessments, and other methods.

Internally assessed units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction (D), Merit (M), Pass (P), and Unclassified (U).

5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (to include English and Maths) or the equivalent in their own country.

  • UK Residential Students – £30,500 per year
  • EU & International Residential Students – £35,000 per year

Deposit to secure place – £3,500

Remaining fees to be paid in instalments throughout the year.
