What is a Day Student at FCV Academy?

A day student at FCV is someone who attends the academy daily but goes home in the evenings. Being a day student means committing to full-time football training and matches while also studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity. This combination allows students to develop their football and gain a solid academic foundation. Day students experience the same training and academic schedule as residential students, ensuring they get the best of both worlds.

Life as a Day Student at FCV

Being a day student at FCV Academy means balancing studies with football training and matches. We talked to one of our local based players who finished his studies this year, Josh Halliday, to hear about his experiences.

How did you find us?

“I was playing for a local team when I saw an advertisement for a trial day online. I decided to attend, scored during the trial, and performed well. As a result, I was offered a chance to join FCV for two years.”

What do you do as a day student?

“As a day student, I have education on Monday mornings and all-day Thursday for my Level 3 diploma. The rest of the week is for football training, with matches on Wednesdays. I am provided food at FCV every day, and I get to relax in the hub where I can play pool or ping pong. This schedule helps me balance my studies, football, and downtime.”

Experience as a day student

“My experience has been fantastic. The coaches are exceptional and go above and beyond to support us. I’m thrilled to have progressed as a footballer and joined the FCV Grace Dieu men’s team. In my first season, I won three individual awards, which has been a great achievement for me. Playing in the academy Category 1 side has really helped prepare me for going up a level into Men’s football.”

What would you say to others thinking of Joining?

“If you’re thinking of joining FCV, I recommend coming down to see what they offer. Check out the trial days and get a feel for the environment. If you enjoy it, come back and give it a try. Everyone at FCV is committed to helping you improve and reach your football goals.”
