Life at the Academy continues, even through the UK’s current national lockdown restrictions. Here is a look at events the students have taken part in both on and off the pitch.

Football Programme

Back at the end of October the Academy sent its first batch of 16 players to attend the UK Football Trials in Birmingham, since announcing its partnership with the trial day company. Academy Manager Grant Brown travelled with the group who took part in the training session and match. All under the watchful eyes of on looking scouts, that ranged from Non-League to English Football League clubs.

Just before the lockdown came into force, FCV Stamford travelled to Brooke House in a friendly, where a Sean Ziqin goal was enough to earn the Academy a victory.

With the current guidance, training is still taking place throughout the week at Borderville Sports Complex. The Academy also welcomed back Neal Lattimore, virtually, as he delivered a workshop on nutrition over Zoom.

Players have not been able to attend the gym for their personal use, however Rhino’s Gym have kindly lent us equipment that has been set up in the Garden House.

Students were in for a fright this Halloween as the Garden House played host to a ‘crime scene’ and ‘scare room’ for the students. There was also pumpkin carving for those wanting to show off their artistic skills.

Residential staff decorated the Garden House for the festival of lights, whilst the chef prepared some traditional cuisine to make students that celebrate Diwali feel right at home. There were also students that had never taken part in these festivities before, who joined in to mark the occasion. This is one aspect that FCV prides itself on, giving students a wide range of cultural experiences.

Academic course

Students have still been completing their academic courses both on campus at Loughborough College and the Study Centre at the Garden House.

The Academy is preparing to welcome a new intake of players as enrolment for January 2021 is well underway. We are still accepting students, so if you are interested in joining please contact the office for all the details.
