Josh Spencer claims FCV Academy Player of the Month award for October

Australian midfielder Josh Spencer has been named FCV Academy’s Player of the Month for October.
The youngster impressed coaches Grant Brown and Ben Watts both on and off the pitch, and was presented with the coveted award by Ted Munson of Science in Sport, who kindly donated a prize.
Spencer joined FCV in September after making the around-the-world trip from Sydney to link up with the UK’s first international football academy.

“He’s shown great maturity to come from the other side of the world and adapt,” head coach Brown explained.
“To come here and better himself, as well as leaving his family, takes a lot of guts at his age. He mixes well with the lads and has settled in brilliantly. He’s great to have on the training ground because he’s got great work ethic and has a top personality.
“He has superb ability on the ball as well as working hard for the team from midfield. He’s a really good kid. A good technical player who takes on everything we say.”
Spencer will be hoping to continue his good form as FCV embark on yet another packed week of fixtures.
On Wednesday the squad will split to deal with the demands of a home double-header. In the morning they face Corby Town and, in the afternoon, Basford visit Borderville in the National League Under-19 Youth Alliance Cup.
