FCV fall to 6-4 defeat at Borderville

With Nuneaton Town’s pitch declared unfit to play on due to freezing conditions overnight, FCV welcomed them to Borderville in the first match of a double-header on Tuesday which ended with a 6-4 scoreline in favour of the visitors.
After a scrappy opening period to the game, Nuneaton notched a quick-fire double just before the half-hour mark.
The Academy ensured they were still in the game going into the break, though, with Brandon Taverner extending his fine form with another goal, to half the deficit.
Early in the second period, Sven Hart was central to all the Academy’s attacking movements, and it was his cross that provided Tai Williams’ equaliser in the 48th minute.
Parity did not last long however, as Nuneaton converted from a set-piece to make it 3-2, but FCV were soon level again – Harry Whittington grabbing yet another equaliser from a Taverner assist.
In a game full of defensive lapses, the visitors took full advantage to go 4-3 up, but Whittington squared things up once more by hammering a thunderous volley beyond the keeper.
Both teams were chasing victory late on but it was Nuneaton that nicked two goals to take a 6-4 victory and three points back to Liberty Way.
