FCV Academy: The benefit of short courses
At FCV, we welcome students from all over the globe into our Academy, where they can hone their footballing ability in our professional set-up.
From Australia to Zambia, Tanzania to Uruguay and the US, to here in the UK, we house students from 11 different countries on our short courses.
The courses are designed to give players an experience of how professional clubs train and, since we opened in 2007, many players have used this opportunity to see what life is like at the FCV Academy, before joining us full-time for the two-year programme.
Nic Railz is one of the current students taking part in a short course, and the Australian is delighted with how things are going so far.
“I’m really enjoying my time here,” he explained. “I’ve had a great taste of the weather already and the accommodation is top class.
“FCV struck me as a very professional set-up, but still friendly, and that very much appeals to me.
“It wasn’t much of a decision at all to decide to come here, the most important thing for me is the experience I’ll gain.”
The FCV short courses offer intensive coaching and training for football players aged 16 to 21, as well as providing performance analysis and expert advice from our UEFA-qualified coaches.
Another recent short course student is Bulgarian goalkeeper Martin Petkov, who after spending just a week at the Academy, decided he just had to have more.
“I want to improve as a person and a goalkeeper,” Petkov said.
“The most important thing I noticed was that people here work so professionally and work hard to improve. As soon as I realised that, I knew I had to come for longer.”
