FCV Academy return to winning ways against Derby College
After two losses in their last two outings, it was a welcome return to the English Colleges League for FCV Academy, who recorded an emphatic 4-0 victory over Derby College.
After defeat against Derby earlier in the season, FCV went about settling the score on home soil, and they got off to a flying start. Some fine play resulted in T’ai Williams opening the scoring, and Grant Brown’s side never looked back.
The next goal followed soon after, when a brilliant Ilja Fjodorovs corner was headed home by centre-back Ashish Pandey, and the hosts added a third on the brink of half-time when the alert Fjodorovs followed up after Beknur Uulu struck the woodwork.
The Academy stepped out for the second half looking to control the game, and that they did, even managing to add a fourth before the final whistle through a fantastic Asmund Yew effort.
A fine all-round display, but the most pleasing aspect for manager Brown may well be the clean sheet – it was FCV’s first in 26 fixtures.
