FCV Academy beat Bourne to march on in the Lincolnshire County Cup
FCV Academy secured their place in the Third Round of the Lincolnshire County Cup by beating Bourne Reds on Sunday 6th November.
Harry Whittington and Rudi Blagogee scored the goals on a fresh morning as FCV recorded a 2-1 success at Borderville.
Watched by coaches Grant Brown and Ben Watts, the hosts started on the front foot despite playing against the wind and they were rewarded when wide man Whittington produced a calm finish to slot home in the 15th minute.
Then, on 40 minutes, that lead was doubled thanks to Blagogee, as FCV remained comfortable in the first half.
Sloppy play at the back allowed Bourne to half the deficit just before the break, though, and the sides went in at 2-1.
With the strong wind in their backs, FCV had to be smarter in possession in the second period as the game ebbed and flowed. Both sides looked to attack with purpose but failed to find a way through.
The visitors were denied a penalty with impressive referee Andrew Bates, who was consistent throughout, waving play on, and FCV held firm to advance.
