A delighted Rudolf Blagogee receives FCV’s latest international call-up
FCV Academy midfielder Rudolf Blagogee is on cloud nine after receiving a call-up to the Ghana U17s squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
Blagogee was born and raised in Ghana and moved to England to chase his footballing dreams with FCV at the beginning of this season.
The midfielder is due to meet up with the rest of the squad next week for a training camp, before rejoining the side in mid-march for the tournament which begins at the start of April.
As any young man would be, Blagogee was delighted with his chance to shine for his country.
“I was running around the house shouting and celebrating,” he exclaimed.
“I’m very excited to get called up. It’s a really big opportunity for me to show what I can do and to help my country achieve something.
“The national coach saw me train for the team in Ghana and told me then he wanted me involved.
“He then sent an email to my parents confirming the call-up. I was so happy – playing for your national team is a dream.”
The Ghanaian has big dreams of turning professional in his new adopted home England, but knows there is plenty of hard work to come.
He's been grafting hard on the FCV training ground and on matchdays, and he will take that work rate on to the international stage.
“The tournament is being hosted in Madagascar, I’ve never been before so it’ll be a good experience,” he explained.
“We just want to go and work hard. If we play well we could achieve something, we want to make our country proud. I hope I can use my experience of being away from home to help the other boys in the team. We have a great opportunity, so every little helps.
“I hope that if I play well in this tournament there will be more call-ups in the future, I just want to show my best whilst I’m there.
“I have to thank Grant and Ben [FCV management team], they’re great to play under and I have improved a lot since being at FCV. The whole squad works hard to get better every day it’s great to be a part of.”
